Week 6 - Colts v. Bears
Stratton Faxon Colts 40 Macca Heating & Plumbing Bears 24
The Stratton Faxon Mighty Mite Colts returned to their winning ways this week with a 40-24 victory over a feisty Bears team. The Colts attack was multi-faceted, with both the ground attack and the air attack in full force. John Lagoy opened the scoring on a beautiful deep pass from QB Michael Mathews. Mathews followed it up with a unique pass to Spencer Witter for an early 8-0. Lagoy scored again in the second quarter and the Colts closed out the first half with a 14-12 lead. Key halftime adjustments were made allowing the Colts ground attack to take over the in the second half. Olivia Moran, Jack Lazor, Peter Brown, Dean Edwards, Aidan Stabnick, Jadon Jiminez and Spencer Witter opened huge holes in a tough Bears defense during the second half. Jack Moore, the trickiest guy in West Hartford, hit paydirt twice in the second half. Fullback Declan Flaherty added a rushing TD following a nice punt return. Mathews found Witter deep in the end zone for a two-point conversion. John Lagoy hit his third touchdown in the fourth quarter to complete the day.
Defensively, the Colts received strong performances from Alec Grosk, Matt "mad dog" Shea, Thomas Sullivan, Noah Young and Robert Simmons. Stabnick, Brown, Lazor and Moore were dominant on the interior defensive line, forcing the Bears attack to the perimeter.
