Week 9 - Playoffs - Raiders v. Chargers
Tanlines Midget Raiders 0 Midget Chargers 14
The Raiders Midgets came out on Sunday looking to get past the Chargers and move onto the Superbowl but it was not meant to be. The defense played well to start the game, with Marcus Johnson picking off a Charger pass to end their first drive. The offense was moving the ball effectively, but could not find the end zone against a determined Charger D. The Chargers got on the board first with a TD run by Ocatvio Thomas, who broke a tackle for a loss in the back field and scampered 45 yards for the score. That was all either offense could produce in the first half and the Raiders went into the break down 7-0. The Raiders got the ball back to start the second half but a fumble gave the ball back to the Chargers on a big 4th down play. Both defenses were unyielding and the game went into the 4th quarter still at a 7-0 score. Midway through the period, Thomas once again got to the outside breaking several tackles to score. The Raiders mustered one final drive, with Owen Tyler hitting Will Simons for a long pass completion, but the offense sputtered and the drive came to an end. As the game and the season came to an end, the coaches were very proud of the exemplary effort the entire team put forth, especially in the second half. A huge thank you goes out to Jonathan Aljoe who even though injured, found it in himself to play some fantastic defense, even though he was put into several positions he never played before. Next season can't get here soon enough, and the coaches look forward to this group moving up to the ponies next year and finding great success.
