Week 5 - Raiders v. Wildcats
Tanlines Raider Midgets 6 Sinatro Agency One Wildcats 18
The Raiders were looking forward to their rematch with the league leading Cats, hoping to take a share of first with a victory today. The Raider defense played tough from the opening drive, but could not contain the Cats’ John Fox, who was at the receiving end of TD pass for their first score. The rest of the first and second quarters were a defensive battle, with neither team able to move the ball much against the other. Late in the half, Michael Peters caught a slant from the Cats QB and took it to the end zone for the second Cats TD of the day, and half ended with the score 12-0. After looking out of synch for the entire first half, the Raider offense came out ready to play in the third quarter. They were able to move the ball down field but could not find the end zone and had to give the ball back to the Cats on downs. From here the Cats had a long sustained drive eating up yardage and the rest of the third quarter. Daniel Maldonado scored on a run up the middle for the third Cats TD of the day, but Will Simons dropped the Cats QB on a roll out for the extra point conversion and the score was 18-0. There was no quit on the Raiders today as they took the ball from the kickoff and drove the length of the field. Owen Tyler hooked up with Simons for a beautiful long TD reception, and just like that the Raiders were on the board 18-6. After an onsides kick failed, the Raider defense came up big and shut down the Cats on their next drive. With time running out, the Raiders went to the air again, and with one second left on the clock, Tyler hit Simons again at the 10-yard line. Simons fought hard to get into the end zone but was tackled just short. As the final whistle blew, the Raiders found themselves at the losing end of an 18-6 score.
Players of the Game:
Jonathan Aljoe, Tommy Jamin, Owen Tyler, Max Bazzano, Will Simons, Raheem Powell, and T.J. Murdock.
