Week 2 - Raiders v. Wildcats
Sinatro Agency One Midget Wildcats 12 Tanlines Raiders 0
This game was a battle for first place in the division after both teams had won in week one. The action did not disappoint, as both teams were ready for the challenge. After the Raider defense shut down the Cats on a big forth down conversion attempt, the Cats fired right back with a big interception of their own. Neither defense would yield any ground as the first quarter ended in a 0-0 tie. The Cats got on the board in the second quarter, on a beautiful counter play. The extra point was no good and the Cats were up 6-0. After the Raiders stalled on their next drive, Will Simons had a beautiful interception on the ensuing Cat drive. Unfortunately time ran out in the half immediately following that play, and the Raiders went into the break down six. The Raiders got the ball back to start the second half and the offense went to work on the tough Cats defense. A beautiful pass reception from Owen Tyler to Simons kept the drive alive, and a beautiful scramble on fourth and long by Tyler gave the Raiders great field position. A huge run by Tommy Jamin was negated by a penalty, and the Raiders found themselves backed up to their own end zone with time running out and the game on the line. The decision was made to go for the win, and Jamin threw a beautiful pass in Simons’ direction. It was not meant to be however as a Cats defender picked off the pass and took it the other way for a pick 6. An interception on the extra point conversion by Marques Johnson on the final play of the game was a great finishing touch for the Raider defense, and the game ended in a 12-0 defeat for the Raiders.
Players of the Game:
Eric Glaude, John Rodriguez, Will Simons, Marques Johnson, and Tommy Jamin
